If a goldenretriever is bred to a miniature poodle you will have puppies ranging from 25-45 lbs. If two miniature doodles are bred together you will have a smaller size dogs. Check ou the size of the parents as that will give you your best idea as to the size of the puppies.
Is there a difference in tempermament between the miniature and the standard goldendoodles?
I am asked this question often as many people are familiar with the temperment of the miniature poodles which are more high strung. I do not find that the miniature goldendoodles are like that. They are very sweet and loving dogs. They do not bark excessively and love to play, swim, fetch and be loved yet at the same time can calm down and be a simple lap dog. The standards are very sweet and loving toward everyone. They're active when you are and enjoy being a movie buddy with you as well.
What is the grooming for the goldendoodles?
Goldendoodles do need to be brushed regularly if you want their coat long and shaggy. I love this look. The puppy cut is also a beautiful look for the goldendoodle which requires visits to the groomer. Some groomers have no idea how to groom a goldendoodles and tend to clip them like a poodle. It's a good idea to take a picture to the groomer to show them how you want your dog to look.
What does my puppy come with?
Your puppy will have it's dew claws removed, scheduled deworming and the first puppy vaccine. Puppy shots are given at 6, 9, 12 and 15 weeks of age. Your puppy will come with their blanket with litter mate scent on it and a toy to help with the transition to their new home.
Do you recommend puppy obedience classes?
I think obedience class is a great way to learn how to teach your puppy and a great way for you to learn as well. You both need to know how to communicate to each other and the classes help you both.
What is the life expectancy of the goldendoodle?
Approx. 15 years
Can we choose our puppy in person?
You are welcome to choose your puppy in person if you live close enough to visit. We do selections in the order of the deposits so we just need to schedule your visits accordingly.
Do you recommend crate training and how do i do that?
We do recommend that you crate train your puppy. Keep your puppy in his crate when you are not with him, but not for more than a few hours at a time. Make sure the crate is not too big. It should be large enough for the puppy to stand up, turn around, and be comfortable but no larger. Dogs do now want to soil their bed and using a crate teaches them to wait longer than if they were just loose in the house.
If you work all day, it is best to find someone who can let your dog out for a potty break and play time during the day. If this is not possible, then only use the crate at night. If you do not have someone that can let your puppy out during the day it is best to use a room such as a utility room or bathroom or kitchen that the puppy can stay in during the day. You can use piddle pads or newspaper at one end of the room and put the food and water dishes at the other end with a bed or even the crate. Puppies learn to love their crate and will often go inside to sleep all on their own.
